Erin and Susie Skibo

This bonny little beauty is wearing what I think is the perfect Renaissance gown for a little girl... it's comfortable, easy to make, will grow with her, and looks absolutely precious! Erin's mother Susie is a very talented costumer whose work I have admired for a long time, so be sure to stop by her page where you can see Susie's wardrobe and another one of Erin's gowns as well. Also, there is a short description of Erin's outfit beneath the picture.

Erin

For your approval: Miss Erin Skibo (4 years old) in her red plaid 'Irish' dress. The outer gown fabric started life as a pleated wool skirt I found at a resale shop for about $2. I pulled it apart, ironed alot to get the pleats out, and created the gown. Her undergown/chemise is white cotton, gathered at the neck and wrists with elastic. Her blue silk hat was purchased at the Michigan Renaissance Festival more than a few years ago. She also has a black flat cap that she wears too. It has a bunch of feathers in it that Erin really likes.
