Fantasy characters from
the Texas Renaissance Festival

I thought I could choose a favorite picture to feature this week, but it was just too hard to decide, so I narrowed it down to three. I'm sorry to say that I don't have the names of these wonderful performers (I didn't want to ask them to break character), but hopefully they won't mind if I post my pictures of them anyway. The first one shows a couple of goblins, and I think the man was the goblin king at the festival. They were great fun to watch and I thought their costumes and make-up were just wonderful. The next picture is of an amazing centaur that I've seen at TRF several times in the past, but I'm not certain if he is part of the cast or just an attendee like the rest of us. (I was recently told that the centaur is played by Larry Collins, and he just started working for the faire) There is always a huge crowd around him and sometimes you can even see him with children sitting on his back! There are wheels under the hooves of the hind legs so he can walk around the grounds. The ingenuity that it must have taken to design this costume just totally blows me away! The last one is of a fascinating pair from the cast wearing Italian Carnevale masks. Their masks and clothing were really elegant, and the way they moved was completely mesmerizing.
