Kathy and Philip Castrovinci

These dashing nobles are wearing fabulous Elizabethan costumes created by Kathy Castrovinci. Kathy works as a costumer for Custom Costumes in Rochester, Minnesota, and you can see more of her creations at her webshots photo album. She has also written a great description of these costumes that you can read below the picture, and if you have any other questions, you can contact her at klc1952(at)yahoo.com.

Kathy

Our costumes as Lord Philip, Earl of Olmsted and Lady Kathleen were fashioned from Black Jacquard Brocade along with Red Striped Taffeta for accent. The Jacquard trim as seen with or without Antique Gold trim is from St. Louis Trim company. I actually found this trim by accident from a web site http://www.calontirtrim.com/. This trim comes in a variety of colors with Gold or Silver accents. The Antique Gold Trim is from Europa Imports, Inc, which can be found on the internet or at a local Jo-Ann Fabrics store. Be prepared to pay through the nose for this beautiful trim. The Gold Maxi piping for the slops can be found at any fabric store, made by Wright's. The pattern for the blouse, corset, my costume, and that of my husband's were ordered from Patterns of Time. The bag is made from scratch, as are the hats. With all the costumes I have made over the years, this was my first real attempt at something with more of an Elizabethan flair. Festival goers and workers alike were taking OUR picture. I plan a new set of costumes for next year's festival that I will try to rival. Not only have I had a blast researching and admiring the costumes I have found on these pages and related sites, I am in awe of the talent in the design as well as construction of the beautiful costumes I have seen.
