Becky Parrish

This lovely Italian noble gown is a recreation of a dress worn by Maria de' Medici. You can read a short description of the outfit below the picture, or you can browse through Becky's wonderful first dress diary for more pictures and details about the construction. And when you finish with that, be sure to check out the rest of her new website, the Frugal Frau She has already begun a second dress diary, and I can't wait to see what she makes next!

This dress is made in the style of Maria de Medici. It was taken from her portrait by Alesandro Allori to have a blue dress in my closet. The over dress is made of a cobalt blue taffeta fabric, the underskirt and sleeves are made of a oyster white sateen with orange satin trim. The trim on the dress is made from gold metallic threads weaved in an intricate lattice design. The dress is a front closure with hook and eyes and it is open front to show the forepart.
