Leia Lima

Leia made this gorgeous Elizabethan outfit by combining the Simplicity pattern with her own research into historically accurate styles. She writes, "I didn't want to copy a painting, because that dress already existed at one point in time. Instead, I wanted to design a dress as if I lived in those times with the materials available to me. It's the "other" dress of the girl in the portraits: the one she went to a faire in, not the one she posed in." I think she did a fantastic job of accomplishing that goal! Her dress is unique from everything I've seen before, but it fits in perfectly with the styles of the period.
