Lydia Osborne

I know I've said this several times before, but I love it when costumers make something that looks so right that you'd think they stepped right out of a painting. I think Lydia's awe-inspiring Tudor gown fits that description completely. Every piece looks so wonderfully authentic - the amazing brocade of her forepart and sleeves, the perfectly shaped French hood, the beautiful jewelry, and even the general silhouette of the gown all work together to create such a gorgeous look. Lydia also sent another full-length photo and a detail shot showing the bodice and hood. You can read a little more about the gown below the picture, and you can contact Lydia at osborne(at)wc(dot)edu.

1536 Tudor
This dress has been reworked 4 times over the last year to arrive at the version seen here. Every time I have an event to go to I redo something! The bodice jewelry is Florenza and it reminded me of a jewel worn by Katherine of Aragon. The ouches around the neckline are made from buttons with pearls in between. The foreskirt is pearled wine, gold and black brocade and the false sleeves are made with the same brocade minus the pearling. I made the girdle from pearls and garnet glass beads with a Florenza pierced perfume holder at the end.
