Trish Pratt

Trish made this beautiful embroidered Italian Renaissance style gown for her mom to wear to this year's 12th night celebration. It's really nice to see how great a commercial pattern can look with the right details and a few alterations. You can read a brief description of the gown below the picture, and she has also included a link where you can find more pictures and details about the construction. Finally, you can see another example of Trish's work in a previous feature from a few years ago, and if you haven't been there before, be sure to check out Trish's excellent Raveness.com costuming site.

This Italian Renaissance style gown was made for my Mom, for Midrealm 12th Night, with a washed green cotton velveteen, red & green iridescent (shot) silk dupioni lined bodice from a discontinued McCalls pattern. Sleeves (also velveteen with silk dupioni lining) from a Simplicity pattern and a 4+ yard skirt just as rectangles pleated to the bodice. Basic cotton chemise from http://www.reddawn.net/costume/chemise.htm. All pieces but the skirt and back have embroidery on them. You can read all about it at my website here.
