The Ticza Family

This group of costumers in their wonderful Russian and Polish garb make up a "family" in their local LARP group. I know there is a lot of crossover with people who participate in SCA, Renfaires and Live Action Roleplaying, so it's really fun to branch out and see some of the costumes from these other groups. And I was really impressed with the quality of their clothing - especially the Russian gown worn by their queen Jessica Ström. The craftsmanship on Marcus Tempelman's Polish inspired outfit is really impressive too. On the far left, you will see Åsa Hestner Blomqvist (who recommended the work of these costumers), and next to her is Thérèse Pettersson. You can read more about the costumes and the LARP group below the picture, and you can also find more pictures by clicking on the "FOTOGALLERI" link at their group webpage.

Ticza Family

The family is called Ticza and the Queen Katarina is actually a widow, and now she rules in her young son's name. She was married to a king called Karl, but he sanctified him self to stop the dark forces to take over the world (he was played by Marcus who is now playing Jan, the Queen's brother). This LARP campaign has been going on for more than seven years I think, and we love to play in it since it contains a little bit of everything. We have humans in a world that is very close to our own, and of course there is a bad dark lord invading our countries. He has lots of dark minions such as the magicians called "redcapes" and his very own "Domesdaygard". In this LARP world there are also elves, trolls, dwarfs, shamans and more folklorish critters, such as gnomes, pixies... things that exist in the Swedish folktales. And did I forget to mention that my character and the queen are magicians... which is a lot of fun... he, he... especially since our powers are at their strongest when we are together. Does all this sound silly and childish, well so it is... but who cares as long as you have a fun time and get to make interesting costumes in the process.

The Queen's mundane name is Jessica Strom. Her coat and headdress is covered in pearls (even more now than when the picture was taken). The Queen's brother Jan Ticza is in mundane life called Marcus Tempelman and he has made his costume by himself as well as the Polish warhammer that he is holding (he is actually a smith). His coat is made of leather and Marcus has made all of the decorations on it with leather and (again) pearls. Yes you can not make Russian/Polish clothes if you do not like to embroider with pearls. My dress is not that much to talk about. It is made out of an old dress that I put lots of trimming on. What actually makes it somewhat Russian is the headband (which has a fancy name in Russian that I can't remember) and the collar. Since this picture was taken I have studied Russian clothes a little more and I am thinking of making something more authentic for the future.
