Deborah Murray

Deb was one of the first people that I featured back in 2001, and it has been so fun to watch her wardrobe expand and her website flourish over the years. She has become quite an expert on Venetian dress, and I love the way that she is always eager to explore more unusual styles in addition to the more typical looks. One of my favorites is this Turkish coat that she designed to be worn either as a dressing gown, or as an overgown as you see here. It really adds such a nice finishing touch, and I always think that extra layers make period clothing seem even more real. For more information about this coat, check out this page where you will find more gorgeous photos, a diary for the construction, and documentation for this type of garment. And if you haven't been there before, be sure to take a look at the rest of Deb's fabulous website. There is so much great information there.
