Spyder Webb

This week we have the thrill of seeing another stunning variation on Venetian fashions. I swear, they just keep getting better and better the more that I see! Spyder's divine silver gown is based on a drawing of a Venetian ball by Dick Barendz, which resides in the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam. She has been working on this project off and on for the past 5 years, and she writes that, "after remaking the bodice a couple of times (pre and post baby), forgetting how I made the sleeve when I went to construct the second one, and hating the colour, I got over these issues and wore it to the ball on the weekend and had a great time." I am so glad that she pushed on through and finished the gown, because the results are really outstanding! It's great to see yet another creative way to make Venetian sleeves, and I think the color is gorgeous, even if she has some doubts! You can contact Spyder at spyderw(at)optusnet(dot)com(dot)au and she also sent along one more picture of her well-dressed sewing gang, which contains several other faces that you might recognize from previous features.
