Gwen Kachelmyer

This dress is a perfect example of all of the reasons why I love Florentine fashions. The lines are so clean and elegant, and that really lets the luscious combination of colors and textures become the focus of the outfit. And I love the way those slashed sleeves and the contrasting underskirt (which is cleverly made of a piece of sari fabric) adds just the right amount of embellishment. I think Gwen would fit in perfectly in one of those Ghirlandaio frescos, and I really couldn't imagine a Florentine gown looking any more "right" than this one.
