1918 dress

Years ago, my grandmother gave me her old New Idea Quarterly magazine from 1918. I've always wanted to make one of the charming dresses from it, but I've never really had a good reason to do something from that period. But this year, I decided to make my favorite dress from the magazine to wear in a historical fashion show befitting Chestnut Square.

I put all of the construction info into a blog post, and I wrote up a quick semi-how-to post about my hat as well. This was a really fun project to work on, and it was a nice break from the super-elaborate styles that I usually make. You don't see a lot of costuming from the WWI or late 'teens years, so I was really excited to be able to draw some attention to these styles at the fashion show and online as well.
