1570's Italian Doublet

The giuppone, or Italian doublet, was highly favored by women of Florence and other parts of Italy in the second half of the 16th century. Mine is made of brown wool with diagonal slashing and velvet guards. I originally made it to wear with my pink Florentine gamurra, but it also looks great with the plum and red reversible gamurra seen here. You can read more about the research and construction of this doublet and see a few more pictures in my dress diary.
